THIRD VISIT

The friend we invited to joined us brougth two friends more, it was very helpful for us, they helped a lot even though was tired but they were with us helping.

we finally saw a diference in this visit, it was getting better, the place was clean, and in some point we never imagine that we did a lot of work and reach what we wanted. to make this place better to help the enviroment.

Our important goal was to develope the need of learning, from us to people that are willing to change thing and make them better.

we made some friends to be interested about we were doing, and so it was, they helped as we wanted.

the funny part is that everyday that we went there was a little kid and we told him if he wanted to join us, and so he did.... he had a good time

we realized that we can make changes in our way of living, we can help people and save them from contamination. we learned a lot, of how we can use our time to do productive things and take advantage of the free time we have and make it useful.

SECOND VISIT

this day we succed joining one friend of us, at the beginning we talk about our goal, of why are we doing this but they weren't convinced about it but when the first day we went alone we could talk about our experience and finally we could show that it wasn't that bad so she decided to join us.

When we came back the second day we check around and we saw it was a diferent, there were less garbage than the frist time but anyways it was some. we picked 3 bags this day .

we picked three bags each. the friend we conviced to come, told us that what we are doing was very helpful.

the Estero seems clear know and we saw a diference and we knew that the third day we will done with this.

THE ESTERO SALADO

Gabriela and i started the project on july 11th; three saturdays, 4 hours each.

i choose the Estero Salado, because it is contaminated, and that really concer us, so we decided to work in that place. we thought that doing this we will help the enviroment and at the same time helping people to get affected of this huge contamination.

i searched many things about the estero but the first thing thay called my attention is that the estrero is one of the richest and varied ecosystem fo the southeast pacific.

i knew it would be hard to do this work because it would be tire but with my friend we realized that this will help the enviroment and all the species that live in.

FIRST VISIT

In the first visit gabriela and i went to

estero salado, just the two of us.

we made 5 bags each, it was really tired and it was

amazing how much garbage were in there.

i've never did this thing before and for me was too much! but at the same time was funny how we did this.

in this first day we took off a lot of garbage
we did a lot we started since 12 to 4:30.

we used bags for our hands to take the garbage,

some parts of the estero we couldnt

took grabage that were near to the water, that was dificult, we didnt have all the materials so we can do it better.

we advanced a lot the first day.

COGNITIVE SURPLUS

Well this video have teach me how to take advantage of my free time because i have time to help others, like im doing with this social action that change my way of thinking about my time.
in my free time i can do poductive thing that can help myself to show and make stronger my skills and develope my habilities for good.
Rigth know i have time enough, because i was studying another carrer and i was really really busy and i was so stressful so i didnt have to much time for my college, know, well ill work..... on the weekends i dont do anything i spend my time watching tv o layed on my bed and i have notice that im wasting my time and i really want to be productive besides that i am just a consumer, as we learnt that we have to be productive to share not just being a consumer. im a comsumer but soon im going to work i have planned that.

im really learning about this social action because its making me see how i cant spend my free time doing productive things and sharing my knowlegede and my help to people that need me.
and so i think time its for spending but spending for good and for others.

Questions About the Class

WHAT DO I THINK ABOUT THE CLASS?

In this class at first I didn´t knew that it was going to be this interesting I prefer to be honest, but when the class started it started to talk about topics that I really liked!!! so that was the moment I changed my mind... This class has showed me again the importance of helping others no just ourselves and the most important that we retribute the same amount of knowledge to society.

WHAT PART OF THIS LEARNING AND RETRIBUTING SOCIETY HAS BEEING THE MOST DIFICULT FOR ME?

Maybe the part of stop thinking about myself because as humans we are individuals by nature and also competitive so is very difficult NOT IMPOSSIBLE!!! but it take a lot of preseverance and also of willness to do it... but it has open my eyes and showed me that we are not alone and that society is also what is outside the city in those forgoten places...

WHAT DO I WANT TO LEARN OR TALK ABOUT?

I want to learn about ways of changing people´s mind when it comes to subjects that affect us directly or indirectly.

Chapter 4

1. To be imbued is to be completely filled with it, to be saturated with it. Mention several qualities with wich you should imbued.
A situation where I feel imbued can be when I see a person that has being acting wrong in life to change completely but because he decides to change, it imbues me because it fills me up with joy and happines.

2. The qualities and convictions you possess impel you to do certain thing.s Can you give examples of things you are impelled to do by the following?

· Your sense of justice: Makes me be a correct person when it comes to the law,it makes me respect every law and teach others what were laws made to and why should we respect them.

· Your sense of modesty: Makes me see that there is people that has nothing, and that I do have a lot thats why I should be modest and also try to help those that need help.

· Your love for humanity: Makes me change a lot I am my way of living and also taking care of the environment.

3. The word transformation has appeared in several readings. It is useful word, and you will want to be careful not to diminish its value bye calling every little change that takes place” a transformation” . In order to gain better understanding of what transformation actually entails, give a few examples from the physical world of something transforming into something else. For each example you cite, explain some of the fundamental changes taking place that justify the use of the word transformation to describe it.

When the wood turn into ashes, that is a physical transformation but for me transformation go beyond because they mean inner changes, spiritual changes etc.


4. Describe some of the changes you envision would take place in

· The transformation of the character of a passive and defeated person into a determined participant in social action : this transformation is huge because it took a person that felt defeated and turned him into a change agent for society, because his has motivation and purpose or keeping pursuiting his goals.

· The transformation of the society in which you live : In the future I can see a world without inequities where everybody is going to be more conscious about the environment and the people around people is going to get envolve. In social issues and also that they are going a be transformation persons.

Diet for America

Watch all 8 videos in the Diet for a New America series (the U.N. Livestock video is optional), and carefully read the text in Unit 6 in our textbook on pages 31 - 32. Our topic this week is investigation of the truth, so why have I asked you to watch videos about diet in order to begin to explore this topic?

Because it talks about finding the truth, this means to know really well what´s going on around us… in the chapters we saw, we learned about situations not so pleasant about some things for example food, farming, etc.

truth is the base of everything, and as individuals searching for opportunities to make changes is our dutty to inform everybody about the truth because we are a fundamental part in that processes that are killing species and also that are destroying completely the environment around us.

What relationships can you find between the videos and the reading?

A huge relationship because this guy was showing us the awfull truth about things that surround us but we ignore or worst that if we know we preffer to ignore them and make if we don´t know, because we are ok the way we are...

What do these relationships imply about our role as individuals in our society?

It implies us because we are the ones that cause that great damaging, we are the ones that never got involved in those kind of issues that are affecting us, and the world we live in, it is important to be conscious about we did and try to change not completely but progressively our way of living, eating, acting, and that we should learn to have a little of maturity and ecological thoughts.
